Before my husbands deployment, I was a naive, new military spouse.
I was a stay at home wife and lover of all things that involved taking care of my husband. I had dropped out of college while we were dating. There wasn't room in our lives for both of us to pursue the things we were and I was happy to give up my goals for his.
I had never lived on my own and had moved straight from my parents house, to my husbands (metaphoric) house. I was organized and clean, but not independent in nature. Though opinionated, I had never been much for doing things on my own. I can't even eat alone in a restaurant.
Before my husbands deployment, I was young in age and lacking wisdom about military marriages, having never met anyone who had married into the military before.
